Poncho® Plus

Insecticidal Seed Treatment

Defeat emerging seedlings’ biggest little enemies

Poncho® Plus offers a much broader spectrum of control than any other insecticidal seed treatment. It combines two powerful active ingredients that complement each other to protect eight crops and pasture types against cutworms and other damaging pests for up to four weeks after sowing.

Poncho Plus is the only product registered to control yellow-headed cockchafers and African black beetles in grass pastures. For canola growers, it provides important protection against mites and aphids and lucerne fleas as well as wireworms and cutworms.

Key benefits

  • A broader spectrum of pest control than any other seed treatment
  • Registered for the four most damaging invertebrate pests in canola
  • 3-4 week protection for emerging seedlings
  • Controls cutworms in all registered crops and pastures

How it works

The two active ingredients in Poncho® Plus are both neocotinoid insecticides. They form a concentrated treated zone around the seed and the roots, then are continuously taken up from the treated zone and translocated quickly through the xylem into the leaves of the growing seedling.

Clothianidin is a low-toxicity insecticide with good root systemicity and contact toxicity properties that make it effective at low rates. It has a broad spectrum of efficacy against sucking insects, including some lepidopteran pests, and chewing insects.

Imidacloprid acts as an acute contact and stomach poison. Like clothanidin, it has excellent systemic properties, so it can also be applied at relatively low rates.
