About
Ever wondered what really happened on a farm? Or what happens to food that doesn’t make supermarket shelves? Do farmers get holidays? Or how they deal with floods, droughts and everything in between?
Instead of guessing, why not ask the people who know best?
That’s exactly what BASF has done with Ask a Farmer – a social-first video series that puts everyday Australians face-to-face with the people doing what BASF calls the ‘biggest job on Earth’: growing the food that feeds the nation’.
Fronted by one of Australia’s most respected meteorologists and broadcasters, Jane Bunn, the series takes to city streets to uncover the questions Aussies have always wanted to ask about farming – and shows farmers answering them directly, in their own words.
Each episode puts real farmers in the spotlight – their stories, their challenges, their innovations and their passion. From vineyards to vegetable patches, Ask a Farmer shows the diversity, dedication and sustainability behind the fresh, sustainable food on our plates.
Why it matters
Most Australians don’t have a direct link to farming anymore – and that’s where Ask a Farmer steps in. The series brings city and country together, opening the farm gate to show how food is really grown, the care farmers invest in their land, and the challenges they face.
By giving Australians the chance to ask their own questions – big, small, serious or surprising - Ask a Farmer sparks curiosity, builds trust, and helps everyone appreciate the skill and dedication behind every meal.
